One Tree Hill quotes ~ 2x22 - “The Tide That Left And Never Came Back”

“Yes, losing your heart’s desire is tragic. But gaining your heart’s desire? That’s all you can hope for. This year I wished for love, to immerse myself in someone else and to wake a heart long afraid to feel. My wish was granted. And if having that is tragic, then give me that tragedy. Because I wouldn’t give it back for the world.”

You live like this, sheltered, in a delicate world, and you believe you are living. Then you read a book… or you take a trip… and you discover that you are not living, that you are hibernating. The symptoms of hibernating are easily detectable: first, restlessness. The second symptom (when hibernating becomes dangerous and might degenerate into death): absence of pleasure. That is all. It appears like an innocuous illness. Monotony, boredom, death. Millions live like this (or die like this) without knowing it. They work in offices. They drive a car. They picnic with their families. They raise children. And then some shock treatment takes place, a person, a book, a song, and it awakens them and saves them from death. Some never awaken.

Everything in this certain point in time in my life have been in so much futility and emptiness that I can’t even start to grasp the meaning of life and everything in between. Maybe we simply exist, nothing more and nothing less. Maybe there’s no one really out there for each and everyone of us. Maybe we only settle for people who we think is “the one” for us. The society has programmed our minds that we are meant for something, that we were destined and fated for something bigger more than ourselves and we constantly look for that elusive something that we get lost in the trials and pilgrimage of the journey. I am not at all certain about all the things that I’ve been babbling about, but this are my thoughts. We are all fooled by the notion that there’s a single person in this god-damn-world that we get to share our lives with. That single person will complete your whole world, and that person can shatter it, as well.
